IEM organizes a variety of events that benefit the community, celebrate our diverse culture, and provide a platform for performing arts. Like every year this year also IEM celebrates Agamoni Utsav 2022. This is a pre-puja celebration where students along with faculty members participated in a cultural program to welcome Goddess Duga. Under the supervision of Prof. Gauri Majumder, a mesmerizing cultural evening was spent with lots of entertainment and good food. The Program started at 4.00 pm in Science Auditorium of IEM Gurukul Campus. Students from different departments have participated in this program. Teacheres and students performed songs, dances, and recitations. All the students and faculty members enjoyed the program very well.

On 16th September, 2022 a few of us lucky members of IEM’s Young Indians society got a chance to attend Young Indian’s largest conclave on Financial Renaissance at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata. The YIFI conclave, presented by dezerv., was graced by numerous dignified luminaries as speakers including Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways; Shri Harshvardhan Neotia, Chairman of the Ambuja Neotia Group and Shri Nilesh Shah, MD of Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Ltd. One of Indian's well-known influencers and a very dedicated writer, Chetan Bhagat was also a major part of the conclave. Almost 40 students, from both B.Tech and MBA batches felt privileged to be a part of such an event. The event kickstarted with a graceful felicitation ceremony for the chief guests by the co-chairs of the Kolkata CII chapter, Vaibhav and Rohit. This was followed by the inauguration speeches delivered by Mr. Neotia and Mr. Niraj Singh, Founder and CEO of Spinny, on why it is essential for the youth of India to start investing in their futures from an early age and the importance of studying economics and finance as a major part of our curriculum. Next was the first keynote address, delivered by Mr. Neotia himself, on how India is currently well-set on a trajectory of becoming a 5 trillion USD Economy by 2025, and all the crucial steps we must follow, sacrifices we, as the youth, must make to ensure our proud nation pushes beyond the 10 trillion USD mark by 2030 so as to truly emerge as a superpower in the global markets. He was succeeded by Mr. Niraj Singh, a young entrepreneur who spoke about the road to becoming a Unicorn as evidenced by his own used-car sale company, Spinny, which just entered the celebrated unicorn club within a short 6 fiscal years of its foundation. After that,the limelight fell onto Mr. Nilesh Shah, who educated us on the intricacies of capital markets and how to navigate them. All in all, it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity offered by our college to us to meet and immensely learn from the plethora of knowledge shared by our dignitaries, and we will forever be grateful to IEM for such an eye-opening dive into the complex world of finance, business and success in life.

Mr. Rohan Mark Gomes is a senior RnD engineer at Keysight Technologies. His primary area of work is developing test engines for wireless 5G and LTE networks. He has worked on the LTE and 5G protocol development stack involving PER (packed encoding rules) encoder and decoder implementations. Currently working on DU-Sim and it's containerization in the cloud (WAP migration). His topic for the lecture was ‘Using modern C++ to develop scalable applications in production. Mr. Gomes spoke about C++ as an industry language and addressed the issues relating to the difference between legacy codes and modern C++. He also discussed the use of modern C++ in the current industry products and advised students to work hard. The event was attended by 79 participants.

IQAC of IEM in association with UEM Jaipur has organized a Physiotherapy Camp on 28th September 2022 at IEM Gurukul Campus. Faculty Members from IEM have joined this program and made it a grand success. Professors from UEM Jaipur along with some students came and provided therapy to students and faculty members.  

Like every year this year also IEM Celebrated Viswakarma puja on the college campus. Faculty members from Different departments have participated in the puja. Puja Started at 10 A.M. in morning.  

For engineering students, Research is most important. At least they have to submit two journal papers and several conference papers throughout the year. Keeping this in mind IEM ECE Department has organized a workshop on paper writing. Prof. Raj Kumar Mahapatra from EBSCO Information Services India Pvt. Ltd. came to IEM and discussed all the features of EBSCO. He also told the students how to write papers for journals and conferences. Students from the ECE department participated in the workshop.

On the occasion of National Engineers day,IEM in association with Vivekananda Vijan Mission organized an Event on 15th September 2022 from 4 P.M. To recognize the contribution of Engineers to the development of the nation the day is celebrated all over India. The program was held in Seminar Hall where students from all departments gathered and made it a grand success. Faculty members from different departments participated in this event. Prof. Dr. Partha Sarathi Chakraborty from Jadavpur University was the key speaker of the event. The Program started with the inauguration speech of Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti, Director of IEM, and Kolkata. Then Prof. Chakraborty discussed the importance of the day and the role of Sir Moksha Gundam Visvesvaraya in modern India. After that, a quiz competition was organized for the students. The event ended with the felicitation of the speaker.

On 3rd September 2022, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of IEM organized a seminar on National Education Policy (NEP). The key objective of the seminar was to implement the NEP in Engineering and Management Education. Padmashree Prof. Bimal Kumar Roy who is the Former Chairman of the National Statistical Commission, India along with Prof. Anupam Basu, Director of the National Institute of Technology, was the guest speaker of the Seminar. The seminar started at 11 A.M. in the Science Auditorium of the IEM Gurukul campus. Faculty members from the different departments gathered in the Auditorium and made the seminar a grand success. The session started with the inauguration speech by Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakraborty, Director of IEM Kolkata. After that Prof. Roy discussed the National Education policy with all the faculty members and explain the importance of NEP in today’s education. Prof. Anupam Basu has also discussed how to implement the NEP in Engineering and Management Education. The Session ended with a token of appreciation given to the guest speakers by our Principal Prof. Dr. Arun Kumar Bar.

IEM received the Top Engineering College award 2022 by the Economic Times group, from the US Consul General Melinda Pavek. On behalf of IEM Prof. Gopa Goswami has received the award.
