IEM IEI ECE Student Branch Chapter talk

Albert Einstein, one of the greatest minds in history, has left an indelible mark on science and humanity. As we commemorate his birth anniversary, the IEEE IEM CAS-S Student Branch Chapter and IEM IEI ECE Student Branch Chapter have organized a talk on Light from Semiconductor Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow on 14th March 2024.

Prof. Anirban Bhattacharjee, a renowned professor from Calcutta University, will guide us through an exploration of the topic.

Distinguished lecture series

A distinguished lecture was organized by the IEM ECE CASS society on 3rd March 2023 in the science Auditorium of the IEM Gurukul campus. Prof. Dr. Sudipta Chakraborty from IBM T J Watson research center delivered a talk on low-power quantum computing. All the faculty members along with students from different years have participated in this talk

India Growth Outreach Accelerated Linkage (GOAL ) Program

CAS Society of IEM has organized an event on 8th January 2024 on India Growth Outreach Accelerated Linkage (GOAL) Program. The guest of the program was Preet Yadav who is the R & D SOC Technical Program Manager for Automotive Group at NXP Semiconductors. Students from CAS society participated in this event. It was a very interactive session where students cleared their doubt regarding VLSI

Quiz competition organised by IEM

A quiz competition was organised by IEEE IEM CASS and IEEE IEM APS Student Branch Chapter in International Kolkata Book Fair 2024 on 25th January 2024.Few glimpses of quiz competition are attached here

Institute of Engineering & Management IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Student Branch Chapter has organized one extempore contest on 7th September,2017 from 11am to 1.00pm in association with IEM IEEE WIE student Branch chapter. The topic for the contest was “Nanotechnology in Electronics”.Five students have participated in the contest. The contest were judged by two renowned professors of Jadavpur University, Prof. Salil Kumar Sanyal and Prof.Sudipta Chatterjee. The program was organized in IEM Gurukul Campus language Lab , Salt Lake, Sector V.

IEEE IEM CAS SOCIETY EVENT REPORT (2020)

• 2-Day Online Webinar on Android App Development (December)

applex.in, in association with IEM IEEE CAS Society Student Branch, had organized a 2-day Webinar on Android App Development on 27th and 28th December 2020. It was a paid webinar held via google meet. But the first session was open to all and was conducted through youtube live, after which we received more registrations. In total, we received around 15 registrations and all of them attended all the 4 sessions of this 2-day webinar. The participants got to learn to build a Movie Recommendation App from scratch.The webinar turned out to be a great success. All the participants were really interactive and willing to learn every details about what they were being taught. We hope to conduct more such webinars in future.

• Online Interaction Session on Scope of Higher Studies in Quantum Computing (November

On 20thNovember 2020 at 4:00 PM, the CASSociety had hosted an Online Interaction Session on “Scope of Higher Studies in Quantum Computing” through Zoom. It was conducted by KuntalSengupta(BTech in ECE from IEM – 2017 Batch, MS in Quantum Computing from University of Calgary, PhD Research Scholar at “York Centre for Quantum Technologies” University of York in UK).

• Online Innovative Model Making Competition at IEMENTECH-2020 (October)

On 4th October 2020, the CAS Society had organized an Innovative Model Making Competition in the 4th International Conference on Electronics, Materials Engineering and Nano-Technology with IEEE Kolkata Section. 9 teams with a total of 30 participants had registered for this event and had demonstrated their models via Google Meet. Prize money worth Rs. 6000 was given away to the top 3 teams.

• 5)Online Short Video Making Competition – PRAXINOSCOPE (August)

From 30th July 2020 to 6th August 2020, an Online Short Video Making Competition named PRAXINOSCOPE was organized by the society. The theme of the competition was “Corona and its Effects on Technology”. Prizes worth Rs. 6000 was given away to the winners.

• Online Webinar on Physically Unclonable Function(June)

On 13th June 2020 at 4:30 PM, the CAS Society had hosted a Webinar on “Physically Unclonable Function — A Promising Hardware Security Primitive” through Google Meet. It was conducted by RajatSubhraChakraborty, Associate Professor, Dept. of CSE, IIT Kharagpur. The topics discussed included PUF Fundamentals, Example of PUF Designs and Attack on PUFs. The 1 hour long session was attended by not only students and faculty members of IEM, but also students of other colleges like Netaji Subhash Engineering College. Around 50 participants were there in the webinar.

• Online Workshop on PCB Designing (April)

On 15th April 2020, our 4th year student member Aditya Mukherjee presented an online PCB designing workshop through youtube live from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM . We got huge response and appraisal for the event. A 2 hour long session spanning over all the important details for PCB designing was organized successfully. Even in this lockdown period we came up with this event.

• Women’s Era-20 (March)

On 6th March 2020, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, a panel discussion session about Women Empowerment was held at IEM Gurukul Campus at 4:00 PM. We got huge responses for the session. The panelists were Dr. RoopaMukhapadhyay (Professor, IACS), Dr. SwasatiSorcer (Thakurpukur Cancer Hospital), Mrs. AhimaBhadra (Senior Joint Commissioner, Sales Tax Department, WB) and Ms. Shreya Ghose (Volunteer, SHE(NGO)).

• Guest Lecture on Nanotechnology (February)

On 28th February 2020, Prof. S. K .Bandhopadhyay of VECC delivered a lecture on Nanotechnology at IEM Gururkul Campus at 4:00 PM. The lecture, being delivered on one of the most burning topics of research, was attended by not only students, but also some of the faculty members of our college. Around 30 students attended the session.

• Model making competition was organized by IEM IEEE CAS student Chapter on 31st August, 2019.Total 20 models were displayed.

This was an event of IEMENTech 2019 (3rd International Conference on Electronics , Materials engineering and Nanotechnology)

• This is to inform you that Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of IEM in association with IEM IEEE Circuits and Systems student branch Chapter has organized 1st international Circuit Design Olympiad 2019(IEMICDO 2019) on 12th and 13th April, 2019.

Total 244 candidates   from India , Poland, USA, Bangladesh took part in this contest. In the top 20 rank list, there are students from IIT KGP, IEM, BITM, IIT Delhi, B P Poddar  Institute of Technology,  Indira Gandhi Technical University for Women, BITS Pilani , Heritage Institute of Technology. First  4 Rank holders are from IIT,KGP. First prize of Rs.10,000/-was given by IEEE CASS Student Branch Chapter, Kolkata Section.

• Mr. Suman Chakrabarty from Qualcomm has come and interacted with 2nd year and 3rd year students on 26th February, 2019 at IEM, Gurukul Campus.

Institute of Engineering & Management IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Student Branch Chapter has organized one innovative model competition from 23rd January to 25th January as a part of IEM Technical Fest “IEM Innovacion 2019” at IEM Management House ,Salt lake, Sector V.
