AI - Code the Future
On 5th October 2024, the Electrical Engineering Department, IEEE IAS, and IEEE Kolkata Section hosted "AI - Code the Future," a celebration of innovation and creativity. The event featured a range of competitions, including a thrilling 48-hour Hackathon held on October 19-20, where participants pushed the boundaries of technology.
Following that, the Postergen Poster Competition took place on October 21, allowing participants to merge technology and art. The event also included the Shutter Showdown, a photography competition, and Reelathon, a creative reels contest. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to design the cover page for the department's magazine, Art Meets AI. It was a dynamic event, contributing to the shaping of the future in AI and creative expression.

IEM HackOasis 1.0
On 27th September 2024, the inaugural edition of IEM HackOasis 1.0, an 8-hour non-stop hackathon, took place. This event brought together brilliance and creativity as the brightest minds competed to solve real-world challenges.
Key highlights of the hackathon included the presence of 6 esteemed judges evaluating the most groundbreaking solutions, and 4 expert mentors guiding participants towards success. With over 70 teams and 300+ registrations, the competition spanned 12+ domains, featuring cutting-edge technologies such as GenAI, Blockchain, IoT, and more. The event was held at the IEM Gurukul Campus.

International Conference on Sustainable Waste Management (ICSWM 2024)
On 27th September 2024, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IEM Saltlake proudly shared a few glimpses from the first day of the International Conference on Sustainable Waste Management (ICSWM 2024).
The conference commenced with a prestigious award ceremony. The Award of Excellence for Significant Contribution in Environmental Sustainability & SDGs was presented to Prof. (Dr.) Sadhan Kumar Ghosh for his initiative in raising awareness about Waste Management in schools across West Bengal. Additionally, the Excellence Award for Zero Waste & Circularity in Campus was awarded to 10 schools in West Bengal, recognizing their remarkable efforts in establishing Zero Waste school campuses.
Following the award ceremony, the conference featured keynote sessions delivered by distinguished speakers, including Prof. (Dr.) Sadhan Kumar Ghosh, Former Dean of FET, Jadavpur University and President of ISWMAW, India, and Mr. Vladimir Maryev, Deputy Chief and UNIDO Expert at the Federal Road Research Institute, Department for Innovative Technologies, Moscow, Russian Federation.

2-Day programme of PHYCATHON - HACKATHON ON ARDUINO-BASED INNOVATIVE PHYSICS MODELS
On September 28th and 29th, 2024, the two-day program "PHYCATHON - Hackathon on Arduino-Based Innovative Physics Models," organized by the Department of Basic Science & Humanities, Institute of Engineering & Management - Salt Lake Campus (School of UEM, Kolkata, India), in collaboration with the IEM - Society of Physics Students Chapter (American Institute of Physics) and Smart Society, USA, successfully concluded on September 29th, 2024. A total of 104 teams and more than 550 students participated in the hackathon.

We were thrilled to announce that on 27th September 2024 our team "Steady Stride" from the Institute of Engineering & Management had secured 1st prize in the Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp organized by AICTE and the Ministry of Education, Government of India at IIM Sambalpur. Competing against top colleges from across the country, our students presented their groundbreaking project, the "Anti-Tremor Band," which addressed a critical medical need.
