IEM Toastmasters Club Shines at Leadership Training Institute
On January 8, 2025, our students attended the Leadership Training Institute by District 124 Toastmasters International at IBM Kolkata.
This incredible experience included a corporate visit to IBM and networking with industry leaders from Balmer Lawrie, PWC, Deloitte, TCS, Intel, and more.
The "Squid Games" themed leadership program provided an engaging platform to enhance communication and leadership skills. Through strategic games and events, our students showcased their talents and emerged as winners!
They received multiple awards, goodies, and recognition from esteemed Toastmasters leaders, including Area Directors, Division Directors, the Program Quality Director, and the District Director of D124.

Industrial Visit to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RNIL), Vizag Steel Plant, Vishakhapatnam organized by the IEM Department of Management.
On 19.01.2025, the IEM Department of Management had the privilege of organizing an Industrial Visit to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Vizag Steel Plant, Visakhapatnam on 23rd January 2025 and 28th January 2025. The visit was conducted in two batches, with over 95 students and 8 faculty members participating.
This enriching experience provided Management students with valuable industry insights and proved to be a memorable learning opportunity.

The first Students 'Chapter in the History of Indian Chemical Society, ICS - IEM Students' Chapter of Chemical Sciences, at IEM Management House
On October 21, 2024, we marked a historic milestone for our institute with the inauguration of the first-ever Students' Chapter of the Indian Chemical Society (ICS) in the history of the ICS—the ICS-IEM Students' Chapter of Chemical Sciences. Held at the IEM Management House, Salt Lake Campus, and organized by the Department of Basic Science and Humanities (BSH) in collaboration with the ICS, this chapter was launched in ICS's centenary year, celebrating its founding by Acharya Prafulla Chandra Ray, the Father of Indian Chemistry, in 1924. Esteemed guests Prof. Sudip Kumar Das, Honorary Secretary of ICS, and Prof. D. C. Mukherjee, Past President of ICS, shared their invaluable insights, enriching our students with their expertise. The event underscored a proud achievement and a lasting legacy for chemical sciences at our institute.

The Department of Computer Application and Science, under the initiative "Words of Life," organized Jagoroni on October 3, 2024, an event that powerfully portrayed the struggles women endure daily through a compelling theatrical drama. More than a cultural celebration of Goddess Durga, Jagoroni aimed to awaken the audience's awareness of societal injustices faced by women. The event featured four segments—dance, song, recitation, and drama—each contributing to the impactful narrative. A prize distribution ceremony followed, recognizing the outstanding talents of participants in each category and celebrating their artistic achievements.

Flagship Event B-Connect
The Department of Business Administration (BBA) successfully hosted its flagship event, B-Connect, a two-day program aimed at providing students with hands-on business experience. Held from October 4-5, 2024, the event began on Friday at 4:15 PM and continued through Saturday. B-Connect featured a range of engaging activities designed to enhance students' practical skills. In Startup Blitz, students presented business ideas to real investor Dr. Sudipto Bhattacharya, who praised several concepts and offered to mentor interested participants. The Adbana event challenged teams to create advertisements for unique products within 15 minutes, fostering creativity under pressure. Other events included Quizical, a business quiz; Tagline, where students crafted company slogans; and Tit for Tat, a Thematic Apperception Test aimed at evaluating mental orientation and perception. This initiative by the BBA department emphasized real-world exposure and skill development for future business professionals.

Five-Day Faculty Development Programme on Next-Gen Communication
The Five-Day Faculty Development Programme on Next-Gen Communication in Basic Science and Humanities: Paving the Path Forward, scheduled for November 18–22, 2024, at the CII Auditorium, IEM Management House, Salt Lake, Sector V, is designed to advance faculty skills in modern communication for teaching and research. This program will focus on enhancing digital communication tools, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in science and humanities, and introducing emerging technologies like AI and VR to improve academic outreach. Participants will also gain strategies to boost research dissemination across modern platforms and develop approaches to engage students more effectively. Applications are open until November 10, 2024.
