On the 6th of March, 2022 University of Engineering & Management, Kolkata in collaboration with  Institute of Engineering & Management, CNG, in association with T2 hosted the event Cyclothon - a cycle marathon with a motivation to celebrate the spirit of womanhood, commemorating International Women's Day. The ride to 'break the bias' started from the University Gate en-route Biswabangla Gate and Novotel crossing, with an approximate count of 300 exuberant cyclists, in two categories of 10KM-Courage Ride and 20KM-Warrior Ride. The peep of the day witnessed the merriment and zest of happy riders, breaking through the monotony of life and feeling the gush of fresh morning air which was followed by a brief felicitation ceremony wherein finishers were awarded medals to honor their ride for the cause      

Department of IT and CSE (IOT CSBT) organized one Career Guidance Podcast from Kolkata to Paris on Sunday (6th March, 2022) from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Abhishek Goswami, alumni of IEM (2015 Batch), completed his Master's in Computer Science from Saarland University, Germany. He received the Marie Curie Fellowship from European Union for his PhD at CNRS (France) and DxO Labs (Paris). He has collaborated with the prestigious University of Cambridge and University of Nantes. His Doctoral research is on Computational Photography and High Dynamic Range Imaging for digital cameras. The session was a highly interactive session where Abhishek enlightened the students regarding various issues related to his research area and discussed various aspects of pursuing higher studies in the fields of computer science and information technology. Dr. Moutushi Singh was the chair of the session and the session was conducted by Prof. Shubhabrata Sengupta. Sixty four participants from second year, third year attended this session.

IEM E Cell along with Department of IT and CSE (IOT CSBT) organized Alumni Talk on Career Guidance on Saturday (5th March, 2022) from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM on virtual mode. Spandan Ghosh, an alumnus of IEM,   talked about his journey and gave insights on building career. He is currently working as an engineer at Qualcomm and was a former systems engineer at TCS. He has also been a research intern at IIT KGP and IIT Roorkee. The session was a highly interactive session where Spandan enlightened the students regarding various issues related to his experiences in Qualcomm and the skills set that they students need to develop for greater employability. Dr. Moutushi Singh was the chair of the session and the session was conducted by Prof. Avijit Bose. Around one hundred participants from second year, third year attended this session.

We are going to announce that IEM -UEM group will organize IEM -UEM Marathon 2022 on 27th April 2022. Willing Participants are requested to register before Monday 21st March 2022.

“Industrial Talk” was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering . The speaker of the session was Dr. Pritam Bhattacharya. Dr. Pritam works as a Technical Specialist for Continental Automotive, where he is part of a team that works on the design and development of image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition algorithms for various Active Driver Safety Systems (ADAS) and camera calibration techniques. Prior to this, Pritam served as an Assistant Professor in the CSIS Dept. at BITS Pilani. Dr. Pritam pursued his PhD (in Theoretical Computer Science) from IIT-Kharagpur and B.Tech (CSE) from Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) in 2010. He also secured AIR 35 in GATE (CSE) 2010. The session was hands on sessions on “Deep into Python”, where our speaker addressed several unknown facts and discussed some problem areas. It was a very interactive session.  

IEI-IEM Students' Chapter in association with Electrical Engineering Department organised an alumni talk on "Engineering skills in Business Building' on 15th March 2022.The talk has been delivered by Mr. Agniva Nandi, one of our notable alumni from Electrical Engineering department of 2018 batch. He is currently working as Business Intelligence Analyst at EUROFINS Scientific, Brussels. He has talked about real time implementation of AI in building sustainable business profile, along with his experience in cracking the CAT or GMAT exam.the event was started at 4.00 pm & ended at 5.00 pm.All the faculty members from the department joined in this session.Students of the department joined in this session.

IEEE IEM APS STUDENT BRANCH CHAPTER in association with Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of IEM Kolkata has organized a webinar on “High Frequency Communication: Recent Trends” on 15th March, 2022 at 4 PM onwards. The webinar was addressed by our honorable speaker is Dr. Somak Bhattacharyya, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronics Engineering, IIT BHU. More than 55 students and Faculty members of IEM, Kolkata and other Institutes have participated in that event and make the program very successful. The seminar motivated the participants, who dream of becoming a successful engineer in the future. The session coordinator was Dr. Manas Midya and Dr. Gobinda Sen.

Students of Department of IT and CSE (IoTCSBT) distributed masks and sanitizers on the grounds of Kolkata International Book Fair on 4th March 2022 at Central Park, Kolkata. They also conducted quiz sessions on Covid 19 with the objective of creating awareness among the people about the different covid protocols. They also held quiz sessions on Bangladesh. The theme of International Book Fair 2022 was Bangladesh. Many visitors of the fair attended these quiz sessions. Students also did live performances in between the quiz sessions to generate enthusiasm among the participants.      

International Conference on Computational Intelligence, Data Science and Cloud Computing (IEM-ICDC) 2021 was organized by the Department of Information Technology of Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, India, held online using virtual platform during December 22–23, 2021. Participation was from twenty different countries around the world. IEM-ICDC 2021 has been made possible with the generous support of the sponsors: Springer, Computer Society of India (CSI) and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC). Most significant new findings about AI and robotics, image processing and NLP, cloud computing and big data analytics as well as cyber security, blockchain and IoT and various allied fields were highlighted through insightful invited talks and innovative technical sessions of the two-day conference. Keynote speakers were Dr. Mike Hinchey from University of Limerick, Ireland, Dr. Miodrag Mihaljevic from Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Dr. Kouichi Sakurai from Kyushu University, Japan and Mr. Rajiv Banerjee from CMCI, USA.
