Rabindra Jayanti Celebration In IEM
Rabindranath Tagore, the first Asian to win the Nobel Prize, was born on 7 May 1861 in Kolkata. Every year, his birth anniversary is observed as Rabindra Jayanti across the country. This year marked the 161st birth anniversary of Tagore. On this occasion, a cultural program was organized in IEM where students & teachers performed to pay tribute to this Nobel personality. The whole program was organized under the supervision of Prof. Gauri Majumdar. The program started at 4 P.M. in IEM Science Auditorium, Gurukul Campus. It was inaugurated by a Chorus song sung by Prof. Gauri Majumdar, Prof. Ratna Chakraborty, Prof. Kakoli Dutta, and Prof. Amit Mandal. Then our President Sir, Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti, enlightened us the greatness of Tagore. Prof. Dr. Arun Kumar Bar, Principal of IEM, discussed Tagore’s achievements and explained how he was appreciated by all . After that, the 2nd year students performed a chorus song. Then one by one teachers and students performed songs, dances, and recitation to pay their homage to Tagore. All the students and faculty members enjoyed the program very well. ARDUINO RADAR
Project Description:
The basic objective of our project is to determine the distance position and angle of the obstacle set at some distance from the sensor. Ultrasonic sensor sends the ultrasonic wave in various directions by rotating with help of servo motors. This wave goes in air and gets reflected back after striking some object. This wave is again detected by the sensor and is analyzed and output is shown in screen. Ultrasonic sensor is attached on top of the servo motor because it has to detect the object and its distance with its angle. Arduino will control the ultra-sonic sensor and servo motor.
As the ultrasonic sensor does not detects any object the servo keeps constantly rotating, as you can see the graph shows a green arc. As soon as any obstacle/object is detected by the ultrasonic sensor the data is immediately processed by the controller and a red arc shown on the display screen.
Project Utility:
We can easily find the estimated distance of the object from the system with the angle at which it is placed. It can also be used at night. It has high frequency, high sensitivity, therefore, it can easily detect the external or deep objects. This radar sensor is not affected by dust, rain, snow, and many more.

Fingerprint Security Lock System
Project Description:
This is an Arduino based fingerprint security lock system.
Project Utility:
Fingerprint identification enhances the security of a vehicle and makes it possible only for some selected people to use the car. Thus, by implementing this relatively cheap and easily available system on a car, one can ensure much greater security and exclusivity than that offered by a conventional lock and key. It can be deduced that the use of biometric security systems offers a much better and foolproof means of restricting the use of vehicles by unauthorized users. The developed prototype serves as an impetus to drive future research, geared towards developing a more robust and embedded real-time fingerprint based automatic door lock systems in vehicles.

Thermoelectric fan powered by candles
Project Description:
This is a candle-powered thermoelectric fan. ThePeltier (TEC module) fixed at the bottom, takes the heat energy from the candles, and converts it into electricity, which in result rotates the fan. This works on the principle of See back effect.
Project Utility:
This can come handy in rural areas in times of load shedding, where there is a crisis of constant supply of electricity.

Home Automation System
Project Description:
A low-cost IoT-based home automation system that allows you to control the electrical appliances at home from far away, with a tap. Now, you no longer need to worry about having forgotten to turn off your light- an app on your phone will take care of it! The demonstration proved that the system works with light as well as heavy electrical appliances.
Project Utility:
The features of the device coupled with its low cost makes it a device of the future.

Low-cost portable ECG Machine
Project Description:
It aims to make the Electrocardiogram (ECG) machine a household health equipment just like the Blood Pressure Meter or the Oximeter. The machine can help monitor critical patients during the ‘Golden Hour’ in their house itself.
They have successfully reduced the price to as low as Rs.1200 or 16.09 USD which is an important milestone in their research. Currently, they are working on making the machine more suitable for the common people by implementing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for accurate interpretation of the electrocardiograms and introduce features such as ‘Heart-Attack Alert’.
Project Utility:
A great number of them could be saved if they got proper medical care within the golden hour. This device has the potential to turn around the numbers by alerting people at the right time.
