International Conference on English Learning and Teaching Skills organised by IEM-UEM group once again returned with it's third year of the conference from 8-12 of September, 2020.   The interesting part of the conference is that it'll be organised Online this year. IEM-IEDC TECH SERIES Project Number- 4   Today technology has reached a point where even the simplest of manual tasks can be performed by a machine in a more efficient and faster method, by meshing various fields together. Such a project was developed some time back by two of our brilliant achievers at IEM IEDC, namely, Sayan Sil and Tapabrata Mukherjee.   Their project is at its core, a system which will utilise machine learning, image processing, computer vision, microcontroller and mechanics to differentiate between faulty and desirable objects.   The current mechanism consists of a conveyor belt for carrying the objects, a webcam for scanning the objects, a push mechanism, a processing unit and an Arduino Uno to trigger the response. The apparatus currently distinguishes between red and green objects. The objects are conveyed by the conveyor belt, and are scanned by a webcam which keeps scanning each object from above and is connected to a standalone computer for processing. The image captured by the webcam is thresholded, and if the object turns out to be red it is allowed to pass. If it turns out to be green, it is pushed aside by the pushing mechanism into a separate crate kept beside the conveyor belt, controlled by an Arduino Uno.   This apparatus can be used effectively in the factory for segregating defective items on a large-scale without human intervention. The defect detection can be highly customised and a more complex and problem-specific model can be implemented and trained to suit our purpose with the help of machine learning.   We are proud to present such innovative minds, with all their ideas to ease human life, and integrate technology into our daily lives.
