Smart Maker Festival was held in New York at Columbia University on 12th October ,2019 and at University of British Columbia in Vancouver,Canada. It was a part of the prestigious IEEE conference and saw Renowned Professors and Scientists from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, Cornell University, USA, Brown University, USA, University of Pennsylvania, USA, Yale University, USA, Columbia University, USA being a part of it. Numerous makers with their projects or models had participated in large numbers. The best maker received a prize money worth of 1000$ as well as Global Certification from Smart Society for all the Participants and top 3 position holders ,Upto 100% Scholarship opportunities for Eligible School Students(UG/PG). Institute of Engineering & Management has always been one of the torchbearers of innovation in Eastern India. Continuing its legacy, Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, in association with University of Engineering & Management, and IEM Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC), sponsored by Nasscom, Cognizant, A.R. Enterprise, Zero Dollar Security, and with media partners, The Telegraph and Vision Makers entertainment, was back with SMART Maker Festival 2019, a unique gathering of techmakers and entrepreneurs from all fields, the biggest of its kind in Eastern India, on 17th November, 2019 at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre. It served as a platform for not only the students and startups of India, but also from various parts of the world, to showcase their talent and technical skills. SMART Maker Festival is the fusion of raw, vibrant and trendy ideas. Along with live demonstration there were hands on workshop and various other activities. It was primarily designed for showcasing makers who are exploring new forms and technologies. But it’s not just for the novel ideas in technical fields; SMART Maker Festival featured innovation and experimentation across the spectrum of science, engineering, art, performance and craft. To make things more interesting, there were two competitions one at school level, and another at college level and for startups. There were more than 170 exhibits on show. The projects were from national level colleges, IITs , and various renowned schools. In addition to the competition, food stalls were also arranged to make it a day to remember for the visitors as well as the participants. Learning and mentoring never off in ISHRAE IEM student chapter. On 18th June 2019, 27 student of Mechanical Engineering (ME) & Electrical Engineering (EE) received one day training at HITACHI engineering excellence centre. This facility is generally used for client and vendor real life training by Hitachi.
