IEM-IEDC Project series no-7

The global pandemic caused by the Covid 19 virus has brought the whole world to its knees, and as we flounder to get our bearings, technology comes to the rescue once again. Four of our brilliant, quick thinking members devised a solution crafted specially for India to help curb the spread in a scientifically proven manner.

They developed an application to track the possible transmission of the virus from an unaware infected person to other healthy people. This novel app collects travel history information from its users to create a dynamic database and correlates this database with the travel history of an

infected person as soon as a fresh case is detected. This allows identification of unaware yet affected people to speed up manifold in the incubation period of the virus.

On one hand the app would collect travel and interaction information from individuals and subsequently compare those with information of COVID-19 affected persons uploaded by the Govt, and rapid identification of possible transmission with valid social markers would be possible.

On the other hand there would be provisions in the app through which doctors/ concerned Govt. authorities would be able to keep track of the increasing number of people who are in enforced quarantine or home quarantine and those who are released from the hospitals after being cured.

One of our on campus startups, applex.in developed this app, and this went on to win the cash prize of 1000 USD as one of the top 10 applications out of 4338 teams, in the 72 hours hackathon– Code19 by Motwani Jadeja Foundation on

10th April, 2020.

IEM IEDC salutes these innovative young minds who are fighting and building strategies daily to make this uncertain situation manageable, and help out in any way possible. We wish them all the best for any future endeavours that are sure to leave an even bigger impact.
