IEM-UEM Annual Sports Day 2020


Physical Education is an integral part of the total education system. Games and Sports play a vital role in the student’s life. A student should study hard to be successful in competitive examinations. But, he should also play games and sports to enjoy the health and vigor of life. Considering the concept of “SPORTS FOR ALL” throughout the entire session we organized Inter-department tournaments for students as well as some sports activities for staff (teaching and non-teaching). The much awaited  IEM-UEM Annual Sports Day was held on Friday 2nd February 2020, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The programme began with the honorable Chancellor Sri. Satyajit Chakrabarti, honorable  Vice-chancellor of UEMK  Sri. Sajal Dasgupta and honourable Mrs. Banani Chakrabarty welcoming the esteemed gathering and emphasized on the importance of sports in a student’s life. The honorable Chancellor Sri. Satyajit Chakrabarti, honorable  Vice-chancellor of UEMK  Sri. Sajal Dasgupta and honorable Mrs. Banani Chakrabarty also took the salute of the impressive March Past of the students, coupled with some stirring marching music by the band.

The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Sports club president Mudasar Nusar. An energizing equestrian display set the tone for the rest of the event. The students displayed a  welcome dance, pyramid formation display mesmerizing the audience with their energetic performances. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes.

Students of various classes across all the years and all stream Boys and Girls competed in events including sprints(50m, 100m, 200m, 400), relays(4x50m,4x100m), faculty race, long jump. Fun time with a tug- of- war between the alumni member and current students added to the enjoyment.

At the end of the programme, the winners were awarded different attractive prizes. honourable Chancellor Sri. Satyajit Chakrabarti, who was the chief guest of the function, distributed the prizes among the winners. The Best march past trophy was awarded to the IEM Kolkata and the overall champion trophy was awarded to the UEM Kolkata. The honorable  Vice-chancellor of UEMK  Sri. Sajal Dasgupta thanked all for their participation in the annual sports ceremony and declared the end of the ceremony at 5 pm. All students, teachers, guardians, and invited guests enjoyed the sports-meet.
