Prof. Amit Konar, FNAE, FWAST is currently a Professor in the department of Electronics and Tele-Communication Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He earned his B.E. degree from Bengal Engineering College, Sibpur in 1983, and his M.E., M. Phil. and Ph.D.degrees, all from Jadavpur University in 1985, 1988 and 2004 respectively. Prof. Konar has published 17 books and over 350 research papers in leading international journals and conference proceeding. He has supervised 30 PhD theses and 290 Masters’ theses. He is a recipient of AICTE-accredited Career Award for Young Teachers for the period: 1997-2000. He is nominated as a Fellow of West Bengal Academy of Science and Engineering in 2010 and (Indian) National Academy of Engineering in 2015. Prof. Konar has been serving as an Associate Editor of several international journals, including IEEE Transactions of Fuzzy Systems and IEEE Transactions of Emerging Trends in Computational Intelligence. His current research interest includes Cognitive Neuroscience, Brain-Computer Interfaces, Type-2 Fuzzy Sets and Multi-agent Systems.

Prof. Amit Konar was the speaker of the Research Talk session conducted on 2nd September, 2022. He talked about key skills required by the students to become a researcher and also shared thoughts about his own research domain, new research era on Brain-ComputerInterfacing.Prof. Konar suggested the students that Pattern Analysis Approach is of great interest to the researches, graduate students in today’s scenario. He provides a thorough and insightful introduction on how Brain-Computer Interfacing can be effectively utilized for rehabilitation. He also advised them how to utilize the computational tools of diverse domains to implement the given problem. He inspires the students to prepare themselves for their own research and also demonstrates direction for the future research through new innovative technologies such as EEG, fNIRs and JACO Robot Arms. At the end of the session, Prof. Konar also gave an open choice for the students to work in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of Jadavpur University to explore them by doing hands on experiments on the sophisticated modern devices present in
the lab. An interactive question answer session was also there, where Prof. Konar clarified every doubt of the participants solemnly. The event was conducted in online mode with 156 active participants.
