ISHRAE IEM Student Chapter, after its tremendous efforts was recognized and awarded as the *BEST PERFORMING STUDENTS CHAPTER FOR THE SOCIETY YEAR 2017-18*, by the National President of ISHRAE, Mr. C. Subramaniam, on the eve of CWC Installation Ceremony of ISHRAE Kolkata.
Prof.Gunjan Kumar, Faculty Advisor of ISHRAE IEM Student Chapter, along with former President, Mr. Debdut Basu and other Core members received the award on behalf of the chapter.
7 teams each having two members from B.tech 1st year of Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM) participated in a mathematics quiz and puzzle solving competition ‘Infinity 2018’ organized by Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission Residential college. Among them one team consisting of Souvik Dutta and Soumik Nandi from 1st year Section-E became runner-up after the final round competing with other teams from Presidency University, Lady Brabourne college and Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission Residential college.
Golden society year (2017-18) of ISHRAE IEM student chapter ends with 16 job offer in big HVAC brand, aQuest hat-trick, one lakh project funding through ISPG, 3 national award with cash prize of 1.25 lakh, 8 zonal & regional award, 1st MOU for department, 1st skill workshop for department, 14 technical talk, 2 project site visit, participation of IEM students in South Asia largest HVAC conference and exhibition Acrex 18 on cost of ISHRAE, 3 research papers publication in conference proceeding, ISHRAE AICTE certified HVAC faculty certificate and number of event participation with endless professional learning to all student members.
Sayudh Ghosh a 4th year Mechanical engineering student of Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM) has got admission to MS in Mechanical engineering with major in materials science (Biomaterials) at Colorado State University with full tuition fee waiver along with a monthly stipend of 1800 dollars. He would be researching on materials used to artificially enhance blood flow rate within the heart under Prof. K. Popat. It would be a continuation of his previous projects done during his undergraduate studies on Mathematical modeling of blood flow characteristics under multiple conditions in an artery having stenosis under Prof. Biswadip Basu Mallik and Prof. Sakti Pada Nanda’s supervision. Sayudh is the first student from Mechanical engineering dept to get a full scholarship for his Master studies in US.
Samarpan, 2nd year student of Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM) won 1st prize in poster presentation in *ASME E-FEST Asia pacific 2018* in DTU, Delhi..
He received a prize money of $300. The presentation topic was related to “spacecraft propulsion”.
ASME IEM student chapter sent three students to Delhi and 12 Students to IIT Dhanbad to participate in ASME E-FEST. They won five awards and cash prize of 300$.
1) Shivam Mishra & Satyaki Chatterjee won 2nd prize in hydro jet.
2) Shivam Mishra, Sahil Sonkar, Harsh Shah won 2nd prize in obscura,
3) Ayush Barnawal, Deepak, Harsh Shah, Sagar Suman won 2nd prize in Murder Mystery.
4) Akash, Saurav & Shailendra Panda won 2nd prize in Oral presentation.
Four 4th year CSE students of Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), (Abhirup Sinha, Aahitagni Sen, Abhilasha Mandal and Arnab Santra) ranked 2nd in the Code the game event at IIT Bombay Techfest, 2017 on 29th December of 2017.
Code the game competition was organized by IIT Bombay as part of Techfest 2017, and was sponsored by IBM India.
The competition had two stages – an online elimination round followed by a presentation and live demonstration at IIT Bombay. For the first round, the students had to identify the fifty major events of an Indian Premier League match innings from its commentary. In the second round, they were asked to determine the top fifty game-turning incidents from several IPL matches, and finally predict a dream team comprising of eleven players who significantly impacted last year’s edition of the IPL.
For creation of the model mentioned above, we used IBM’s cognitive computing solution, Watson. Their final web application was deployed using the IBM Cloud platform, BlueMix.
They presented their application before the students and judges on 29th December at IIT Bombay. The judging panel constituted an IBM employee, working on cognitive computing, and a professor of IIT Bombay whose area of interest was Data Science and Analytics.
ISHRAE IEM student chapter won the aQuest 2018 East and South zone semi-final with cash prize of Rs.15,000/ and direct entry in final schedule at South Asia largest conference and exhibition Acrex 2018. Also we got the 1st runner-up award with prize money of Rs. 10,000/ and 2nd confirmation of 4 direct entry of national top team in Final on the sole cost of ISHRAE. Champion team was Sagnik & Riazul, students of 4th year Mechanical Engineering (ME) and 1st runner-up team was sourav sarkar and Aman Sultania, students of 4th year Mechanical Engineering (ME). Also, our quarterfinal champion Mr. Saurav and Ramesh kartick gave their best performance and settle for the 4th position.
