In ASME E-WEEK, all the events witnessed huge number of participants, from all years and all departments.
The mechanical department at IEM got it’s fourth student chapter, American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
The conclusion of ASME E-Week marked the beginning of a new story, ASME.
The IEM Coding Club organised a workshop ( 4 hours ) on “Python & Algorithms” on 11th and 12th of April.
The basics of the language like syntax, iterators, functions, lists were covered on the first day of the workshop, while advanced concepts like library collections, data structures & algorithms, higher order functions like filter and map, file handling were introduced on the second day. The students were also shown some projects done by IEM students in python and motivated to come up with projects of their own. At the end of the workshop,

IEM Innovation Lab students (ECE 3rd yrs & CSE 3rd yr) team has entered the Semi-Finals of the ‘DST and Texas Instruments India Innovation Challenge Contest 2017’.
Our proposal was a Smart Helmet acting as a Bike Companion. Over 18000 participants(1831 teams) from 624 colleges all over India submitted their ideas to the contest. Among them 428 teams were shortlisted for the quarterfinals, out of which 55 teams qualified for the Semi-Finals which will be held on 15th and 22nd of April 2017.

At INDUSTRY ACADEMIA CONCLAVE, organized by MAKAUT more than 50 institution had participated. MAKAUT has appreciated 10 best models, out of which 3 models were prepared by IEM students. Except Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), no other institution has bagged more than one appreciation.

This year, our student Rohan Dutta bagged a stunning 9.71 CGPA. This academic year, he has published three international research papers and got a funded project from Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt of India.
AQuest, is a national level student quiz competition organised by ISHRAE every year.
Rajarshi Dutta Gupta of 3rd year Mechanical Engineering and Swaraj Samanta of 2nd year Mechanical Engineering won the grand finale held at BCEC Mumbai.
They have won cash prize 50000 along with certificates, medals etc. They are going to get job offers from HITACHI .
Before the final achievement they had to won regional championship then zonal championship then zonal semifinal.
