Four 4th year CSE students of Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), (Abhirup Sinha, Aahitagni Sen, Abhilasha Mandal and Arnab Santra) ranked 2nd in the Code the game event at IIT Bombay Techfest, 2017 on 29th December of 2017.
Code the game competition was organized by IIT Bombay as part of Techfest 2017, and was sponsored by IBM India.
The competition had two stages – an online elimination round followed by a presentation and live demonstration at IIT Bombay. For the first round, the students had to identify the fifty major events of an Indian Premier League match innings from its commentary. In the second round, they were asked to determine the top fifty game-turning incidents from several IPL matches, and finally predict a dream team comprising of eleven players who significantly impacted last year’s edition of the IPL.
For creation of the model mentioned above, we used IBM’s cognitive computing solution, Watson. Their final web application was deployed using the IBM Cloud platform, BlueMix.
They presented their application before the students and judges on 29th December at IIT Bombay. The judging panel constituted an IBM employee, working on cognitive computing, and a professor of IIT Bombay whose area of interest was Data Science and Analytics.
