The Department of Business Management of IEM-ASHRAM campus runs BBA(H) Course under MAKAUT (Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology), formerly known as WBUT (West Bengal University of Technology).
Intake of students in each year is 120.

The Department intends to give concepts of management theories and practices. Apart from the course curriculum the Department runs a special course named ‘VALUE ADDED PROGRAMME’ for the BBA(H) students. The aim of this programme is to prepare students as MARKET READY resources, here we impart knowledge dealing with logical reasoning, problem-solving, data representation, managing complexity and situation handling. Under the able guidance of our eminent faculty members, our students become experts in solving case studies, preparing advertisements, dealing with day to day as-well- as strategic HR-Issues in the organization and analysing stock market and financial investment . Every year students of BBA(H) department go to different organizations for two internships one in summer and the other one is in winter. The department has its own Entrepreneurship Cell where we nurture the entrepreneurial skills of the students , so that, they become ready for opening their own start-ups. Once in a year the students of this department organize ‘MINI-MART’ – a business initiative at our institute premises and there they showcase their own business plans . Every year the students participate in different management competitions and win laurels. The department organizes Management Development Programmes (MDPs) every year for the corporates. Some of the regular participants of the MDPs organised by us are from Peerless, India Dairy, DPSC Ltd., Andrew Yule, CMRI Hospital, Tech Mahindra, Pentacon, Bridge-n-Roof, DVC, Naba Diganta Water Management Ltd. etc.
The uniqueness of this department lies in the fact that we accept students from varried background and from different qualities and after three years of regorous training we prepare them as ‘ Ready Resource’ for the organizations. Discipline is the key of the departmental success. This department always gives their initiatives in finding and implementing new pedagogy of teaching, such as implementing Film and Analysis method, Experiential Learning, Case Study methods, Role Playing methods, etc. We believe that the effort of our faculty members in the above mentioned areas sharpen the edge of the skills and abilities of our students . With this infrastucture we try to provide our best to improve our students. Research is the protoplasmic element of this department. Faculty members of this department publish their papers in National and International journals, books and present papers in the conferences in each year.
The Scope: The three-year bachelor programme in business administration moulds all the aspirants not only into a market-ready professionals, but also the targets of the reputed management institutes, both in India and abroad. In the post-graduate programmes also our students show enviable performance. The department pays a very high emphasis on case study teaching method as an important pedagogical tool. The Future Opportunities: There exists a very high opportunity for the students to grab very good jobs with very good pay packages by campus placement process. The recruiters are reputed names in IT & ITES, FMCG, Consultancy firms, Online marketing, Paints, etc.
